Last year, our family said goodbye to our beloved chow, Lua “Doobie” Walls, who brought joy and comfort to us all. Doobie was Kelly’s loyal companion, keeping her safe and happy, and Andrew cherished their short walks around our townhome, always ensuring she had her favorite treats. Losing Doobie taught us the profound responsibility of caring for older animals. When Queenie, a 9-year old foster dog, needed a forever home, we knew she was meant to be part of our family.
Queenie is more than a pet—she’s family. She’s Andrew’s new walking buddy, a joyful reminder of Doobie for Kelly, and a source of endless giggles for our toddler, Georgia, who delights in Queenie’s bouncy energy. As we near the first anniversary of Queenie’s “Gotcha” Day, we’re grateful for every moment with her.
But shortly after adopting Queenie, we learned she had cancer. A successful splenectomy and other procedures gave her a healthy, vibrant year, but the $14,000 in medical costs has been a heavy burden for our young family. We’ve nearly paid it off. Now, over the holiday weekend, a new skin mass appeared, requiring urgent surgery to remove and drain the growth. This unexpected challenge has added to our financial strain.
Kelly and Andrew have poured their hearts and resources into saving Queenie, staying strong for her and Georgia, who adores her furry best friend. But these mounting medical bills are overwhelming. We’re reaching out for help to ensure Queenie gets the care she needs to recover fully. Any support—whether a donation or sharing this page—will ease our burden and reflect the compassion of Proverbs 12:10, “The righteous care for the needs of their animals.” Every little bit makes a difference for Queenie and our loving family. Thank you
