On 12/31, my world shifted when I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. Saying it still does not feel real. Some moments I feel strong, other moments I feel scared, angry, numb, and sometimes all at once. I am learning there is no βrightβ way to carry something like this.
I am scheduled to have surgery on February 2, and until then I am currently on modified bed rest. After surgery, we will know more about what comes next. For now, I am taking things one day at a time and choosing hope wherever I can find it.
One of the hardest parts of this is that I am currently uninsured. I have applied for Medicaid and am waiting for approval, but in the meantime I am facing significant medical expenses related to surgery, recovery, and ongoing care. I am also a single mother and the sole provider for my household, which makes this season especially challenging. Being on modified bed rest has also created additional expenses, including increased reliance on delivery services for groceries, meals, and household needs. Asking for help does not come easily to me, but this is a moment where I cannot do everything on my own.
I am doing my best to continue working where possible and maintain some sense of normalcy because it helps me feel grounded, though my energy may look different from day to day. If I am quiet or slow to respond, please know it is nothing personal. I am simply listening to my body and protecting my peace where I need to.
I want to share this here not for sympathy, but for honesty, connection, and transparency. Writing and sharing has always been part of how I cope and heal. Any support from this fundraiser will go directly toward medical bills and basic living expenses while I recover and focus on my health and my children. If donating is not possible, sharing this or keeping us in your thoughts truly means just as much.
I also need to say this. I have been completely surrounded by love. My friends and family have shown up in ways that have humbled me beyond words by checking in, helping, praying, and reminding me that I am not alone. That love has already carried me more than they know.
I do not know exactly what this journey will look like yet, but I do know I am walking it with hope, honesty, and an incredible support system. Thank you for holding space for me, for your kindness, and for any support you are able to offer. π€
