Hi, my name is Katherin Gil Galeano.
On August 10th, as many of you may already know, a powerful earthquake struck Colombia, and my hometown, Versalles, Valle del Cauca, was one of the places severely affected. Receiving aid has been especially difficult due to collapsed roads and the extent of the damage throughout the area.
Thankfully, my family is safe, and we are incredibly grateful for that. However, my aunt’s home, which was also my grandparents’ home and is a very old house, was severely damaged by the earthquake and is now at risk of collapsing.
My aunt currently has no safe place to go. A large part of the town was destroyed, leaving many families in extremely difficult circumstances. Right now, she needs a safe place where she can sleep and feel protected without the constant fear that her home could collapse.
For this reason, together with my family in Colombia, we are raising funds to build her a safe and stable room where she can live while our family works toward finding a long-term solution.
Every donation, no matter the amount, brings us one step closer to giving her a safe place where she can feel secure again after this devastating disaster.
