Help Marley & Sampson Heal

My two sweet dogs, Marley and Sampson, have unfortunately both gotten sick at the same time. They are my absolute best friends and mean the world to me. Seeing them not be their happy, playful selves has been heartbreaking in every way—mentally, emotionally, and now financially.

Over the past few weeks, Marley’s health has declined quickly. Her appetite has completely changed, and she’s lost an incredible amount of weight in a very short time. She is eating very minimally. Despite her weight loss, her belly has become very round and hard, her energy is low, and yet she still pushes herself to keep going. We took her to the vet yesterday and found out that she has a tumor on her liver that is cancerous. At this time the vet said best thing we can do for her is love her up until she tells us it is time.

Sampson is struggling too. He currently has a painful ear infection, and just a couple of days ago, my boyfriend discovered a tennis ball–sized lump on his neck. I am absolutely broken that I hadn’t noticed it sooner. Thankfully, he is still eating like a champ and trying to stay his usual self, but I know he needs care right away. His appointment is scheduled for today. Once I know more I will post an update for him.

Marley and Sampson have saved me in more ways than I can ever explain. They’ve been my constant companions through the hardest times in my life, and now they need me more than ever. The cost of their medical care is going to be overwhelming, and I want to do everything I can to help keep them happy for as long as I can. Marley’s appointment yesterday was $650. I would gladly post all of the bills that I get. These things happened so fast and I am not nearly in a position to afford what is to come.

Anything you can give, big or small, will go directly toward Marley and Sampson’s medical expenses. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for helping me give them the chance to get better and continue being the joyful, loving dogs that they are.

We are home from Sampson’s appointment and it’s been confirmed that he has Hyperthyroid Carcinoma along with the ear infection that we knew of. The vet said that this form of cancer is extremely rare with dogs. Although sadly this is ultimately fatal. There is more time and options for Sampson. The vet is starting him off with meds to help the thyroid and we are going to schedule a consultation with a surgeon to see if this is a surgery that will save him.

Update for Marley today. She has been eating a bit more today with the meds the vet gave her. She did lose her balance a little today. My biggest question for the vet is/was “are they in pain?” She said that Marley should not be in pain as of now, and we will know if/when she is. For Sampson currently he is also not in pain. Just his ears are irritated, which we’ve started the meds for that.
