I really don’t even know how to put into words what my children and I have been through, but at this point WE NEED HELP. 💔
Monday morning around 2:30 AM, someone drove by our home and let off over 74 rounds.
SEVENTY-FOUR+ SHOTS.
My children and I were literally dodging bullets and trying to take cover inside of our own home. A place that is supposed to be our safe place.
And in the middle of all of this, my 7 YEAR OLD daughter was SHOT in her leg. 🥺
My baby was SHOT. 💔
By the grace of God, nobody else in my family was physically hit. But mentally 🤦🏾♀️ it’s a lot of work that has to be done and When I think about the amount of bullets that were fired and how easily I could have lost one or ALL of my children that night, I can’t even explain what that does to me as their mother.
And what makes me even angrier is that WE WERE NOT EVEN THE INTENDED TARGET.
From what we understand, the intended target was the neighbors in the unit connected to ours. My babies were caught in the middle of somebody else’s situation simply because of where our home is located.
And this is NOT the first shooting connected to that neighboring unit — not even within the last year.
The woman who lived there previously was shot in the chest, and despite something that serious happening, the rental office did not take the steps necessary to make us feel like our safety was being taken seriously.
Now look where we are.
MY 7-YEAR-OLD CHILD HAS BEEN SHOT.
I’m pissed. I’m hurt. I’m scared. I’m overwhelmed. And no, I AM NOT OKAY.
My children are not okay either.
They have begged me not to take them back home. They keep telling me they don’t feel safe there. They don’t feel protected there. They’re scared that if we go back, somebody is going to come shooting again and this time one of us might die.
How am I supposed to look my babies in their faces after what we just survived and tell them, “We have to go back”?
They shouldn’t have to sleep wondering if another bullet is going to come through a wall.
They shouldn’t jump at noises.
They shouldn’t be scared to be inside their own home.
And my 7-year-old should NEVER have had to experience being shot.
Right now I don’t care about anything except getting my children somewhere SAFE so they can begin recovering from what happened to us.
The hardest part is that we don’t have another home waiting for us. We can’t just pack everything up and magically move somewhere else. We need help BAD at this point.
I’m asking anyone who knows of legitimate resources for emergency relocation..
And if you can’t personally help, PLEASE SHARE THIS POST. Somebody who sees it may know somebody who can.
I’m not looking for pity.
I’m a mother asking for help protecting her children.
My babies just survived 74+ bullets being fired toward our home.
My 7-year-old was SHOT.
And after everything that has already happened around this neighboring unit, I refuse to wait until something happens again and we’re planning a funeral instead of a relocation.
We survived this time, and I thank God every single second that I’m still here with all of my babies. 🙏🏽😭❤️🩹
But surviving it isn’t enough.
My children deserve to FEEL safe.
They deserve to BE safe.
They deserve to be protected.
Right now, I need help making that happen. 💔🙏🏽
Please keep my baby and our entire family in your prayers, and please share any resources that could help us relocate AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
