In Liberia, the streets are filled with young people, who are literally and figuratively starving β€” hungry for food and knowledge, for opportunity, for a chance. In this country, youth often gathered under a makeshift canopy, with worn books, no technology, and big hopes and dreams of a brighter future. So, we decided to do something to change this!

We heard children say: β€œWe want a place where we can read, where we can dream, where we can build our future.”
We heard young adults say: β€œWe want to start a business, we need training, we need connection.”
And we heard parents say: β€œIf only our children had access to what the world has maybe our community could ripple into something stronger.”

That’s why we at LEDI are building not just a library, but a Library & Technology Center in Gbarnga, Bong County, Liberia, a place where literacy meets opportunity, where infrastructure meets empowerment, where dreams meet design. The first of its kind in Liberia.

In January 2025, we took a team of volunteers from Georgia, Ohio and New Mexico to give hope and further the dream of making the LEDI Library and Technology Center a reality. During our mission, we saw the raw needs. But we also saw the possibilities. With your help, this won’t remain a dream for long. It will become a reality!

What We’re Doing

  • Phase One: Architectural Design & Groundbreaking β€” already completed.
  • Phase Two: Construction of the shell and infrastructure β€” walls, roofing, basic utilities. (Ongoing - Help us complete Phase Two)
  • Phase Three: Furnishing the interior, installing computers & internet, stocking books, launching learning programs.

Your gift today ensures we move swiftly into Phases Two and Three, and open this center within the next 12 months.

How Your Support Helps

  • $50 – 2 building blocks
  • $100 – 1 foot of foundation
  • $500 – 2 small windows
  • $1,000+ – covers a learning wall
  • $5,000+ - 1000 sq ft of floor
  • $25,000+ - sponsors a classroom area or study zone
  • $50,000+– finish one level of a wing of the library/tech center

Every dollar counts. Every share matters. Every story of hope we spread brings us closer to opening those doors.

Once operational, the ripple effect will begin - literacy will improve; youth will gain skills; local entrepreneurs will grow businesses; health and wellness will improve; and severely impoverished communities will prosper.
