As the title suggests, Andrew is being forced out of his home of two decades. He has lived on Terrace Place in Windsor Terrace, Brooklyn almost half his life. During the pandemic, Andrew helped his elderly neighbors by food shopping for them, helping them get vaccine appointments when there were none to be had in NYC, shoveling their stoops during snow storms, amongst numerous other day to day chores.
Unexpectedly, a few weeks ago, he was told he would need to move. No explanations or apologies were offered. The people who own this two family building are old school. They have threatened Andrew. Andrew contacted a Tenant’s Rights lawyer who said she understood and advised him to get a gun. This is not something Andrew is prepared to do.
This comes at a difficult time. Andrew is a respected musician. The pandemic destroyed his ability to perform live. Although these shows are slowly coming back it won't be fast enough to provide Andrew with moving funds. As well, the doctors have just informed him that his brain tumor is growing back and he is unable to take on new work.
Living in Europe has always been part of Andrew’s long term plans. Throughout his professional career a majority of his work has been overseas. He has performances and teaching opportunities available to him right now in Berlin. He has a musician friend who has offered him a room until he can get back on his feet.
The purpose of this fund is to provide Andrew with the money to purchase a flight to Berlin and to cover other associated moving costs.
