Help Save Ace Of Diamond Mine & campground π π§‘
It is difficult to put into words what this land means to me. For me, the mine is not just a place where I run a business. It is my childhood home where I lived from birth until approximately age 5. It was my dad’s residence for decades. It was my first apartment where I lived for years while attending college. It is the location of a lifetime of daily memories with my dad, my family, and my friends...the place of countless campfires with friends, the place I learned to drive “stick shift” as a teen with my dog BoBo as co-pilot, where I learned how to mine crystals and run an excavator alongside my dad, and celebrated many birthdays. When I look at the gravel roads and piles of rocks that my dad created, I see more than rubble...I see thousands of hours of hard work, sacrificed weekends and holidays, forgone vacations, and missed family functions. My father put his heart and soul into that place and it is beyond heartbreaking to be on the verge of losing it all.” Anna Jane Smith
We have kept silent about what has happened to our favorite Herkimer Diamond mine, however with the new decision to close the mine while litigation continues we felt it was time for us to help save Ace of Diamonds! π
The current lawsuit was started while Ted was still alive and unaware of his medical condition so this is not an unsettled estate issue.
It is also public record if you know where to look for it.
Smith v. Smith
Full title: Christopher Smith and Michael Smith as Trustees of the Jay and Patricia…
Court: Supreme Court, Herkimer County
Date published: Jun 10, 2022
This case was brought on by family members who were never a part of the daily running on the business.
I guarantee you they do not know the names or faces of the generations of families who returned year after year to mine.
They never in fact contributed to the running of the vast machines, maintenance, running of the store etc.
They are not interested in continuing their grandparents legacy instead they want to force Anna to sell at auction for profit.
Anna’s goal however is to continue to the legacy of Ace for future generations to enjoy.
We visited many other mines both public & private when the court imposed restrictions and fines on Anna.
Each site has its own special qualities and we do recommend them all as each mine has its own style of mining.
Ace however has something no other mine offers, it caters to people with disabilities, elderly, families, individuals with special needs, small children, large groups etc.
Ace also was affordable as they kept the digging fees below $20 pp per day!
I often paid the fee because I knew I would find my way down the driveway that was littered with HD without even having to get dirty.
It’s not just about the excitement of finding the Herkimers for so many it’s about the peaceful & healing feel that the property offers.
With the closing of Ace while the court case continues Anna will have to pay out of pocket to keep up with property bills, court costs, legal fees, court imposed fines, filing fees, lawyer costs etc.
There is no evidence that the family that brought the lawsuit against Anna is willing to let Anna buy them out.
If the court is not able to separate the property among the 3 parties in the case and Anna does not win in appeals, then she would have to buy the mine in a public auction. π
Anna could really use as much support that the gem world has to offer.
This battle has been mentally, physically, emotionally and financially draining π§‘
If we all pull together and donate $1, $2 or $5 I’m sure that not only will she appreciate it but it will help out a great deal.
So please I urge you to ban together and be the love π as well as the light needed to keep the legacy of Ace Of Diamonds alive 𧑠π
All funds raised go directly to Anna π
The Ace of Diamonds facebook page has a great deal of information about the legal proceedings.
Thank you for your consideration and continued prayers π
