We are running this campaign to help support my Aunt Lori during her breast cancer journey, Lori is an amazing mother, daughter, wife, hairstylist and might I say one hell of a breast cancer warrior!! Those that know her know that she would drop everything to help someone out and have oftentimes put others needs before her own because that is just the type of person she is, but now Lori needs our help!

The cost of medical bills are piling up along with the normal bills and with the new year comes another $8,000 deductible for her insurance, I don't want her to have to worry about how she is going to pay for all of this on top of everything else she is going through. We are asking if you are able for your help in supporting Lori through her Journey. Below is her full story......

Lori is a mother of 2 boys. My oldest was the first to go to college and is in his 7th year of working in education. Her youngest is the one who put her parenting skills to the test. He wasn’t much of a kid for school, but he knew how to keep things interesting. He lives with her due to his special needs. These two are her pride and joy. She has also been the primary caretaker of a 22-month-old, whom she has had under her care since she was 6 months old. Lori is an individual everyone wants in their corner. She always finds a way to get things done. In our circle Lori is the first person you call when you need help. It is our turn to be in Lori’s corner.

Her cancer story starts with finding a lump in my breast mid-shower. It radiated pain and caused fear to consume her thoughts. She immediately went to her primary doctor. Within a few weeks, she got the results that no one ever wants. She was officially diagnosed with Breast cancer in early July. It has been an uphill battle ever since.

Lori has been a hairdresser for her entire adult life and has owned her own hair salon for the past 28 years. It certainly isn’t any grand-scale operation, but it has brought her great pride to know that she has been able to keep her doors open for over two decades. However, since she is the only employee, if she is not working, she is not getting paid. This has brought a tremendous amount of stress to an already stressful situation. Lori has had two operations since being diagnosed with breast cancer. She found out late September that her treatment plan will include drip Chemo paired with radiation. This will cause Lori to take off even more unplanned days so she can receive the treatment she desperately needs.

Due to the healthcare expenses she has already exhausted any amount of savings to meet insurance claims. However, January 1st is coming extremely fast, and she will need to pay several thousand dollars before her insurance kicks in again. Even though doctors encourage her to not work and take the time off, Lori will not unless the pain is that unbearable. If you ask her, she will tell you she has too much to lose. She works to support herself and to ensure that there is a roof over the head of her loved ones. Lori built a 6-inch stage around her hairdresser’s chair, attempting to prevent her from lifting her arms. She tends to ice in between customers or spacing out clients just to give her body rest. The pain has caused her to slow down, and she will continue to see a dramatic decrease in take-home pay. Family members and friends have and continue to support Lori’s fight. Any contributions will directly support Lori and her fight against Breast Cancer.
