I am asking for help for my sister and her boyfriend, Theresa Spehar and David Moore, from Traverse City, Michigan. First, I must say that I adore my sister. If I were to lose her, my world would be devastated. She also has 2 brothers, a son, a daughter, 2 nieces, 2 nephews, babies that love her and much more family and friends. And of course, her David.
In September of 2022, she FINALLY got an answer to her severe abdominal pain. She was waiting in the ER for over 16 hours, and received a CT scan. Emergency surgery in October, removed a large mass (22×10×6c), which was Clear Cell Ovarian Cancer. The downside: the doctor nicked the mass, possibly releasing more cancer cells into her abdomen. The plus side: (see pic below!!!)
Now, per Munson Oncology, they do not perform Pet scans on women diagnosed with ovarian cancer. The American Cancer Society does NOT agree with this. To receive a Pet scan, Theresa needs a doctor's order. To date, the only follow up care given has been a pelvic exam every 3 months. Paying OUT OF POCKET, no insurance, to an oncologist.
Theresa needs to find a new oncologist, who is out of the Munson coverage area. She will have to travel. The oncologist will have to be willing to accept her with NO INSURANCE. They must be willing to give her a Pet scan.
In April 2023, her now fiance (again, see pic below!), David Moore, was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer. What are the chances, right? I'm telling you, this is a true love story! Through thick and thin... So, May 2023, David has surgery. He is self employed, so he was not working for 6 weeks, then very light duty until he got stronger.
Theresa had to quit her full time job so she had time for treatment. It was only about a week before she found a part time job that will hopefully be a better fit!
So, I am asking that ANYBODY, ANYWHERE, PLEASE help with whatever you can. This story started with it's not easy asking for help. Really, it isn't. I love these two people so much, (whether it's gas money, electric, medical bills, hotel stay, or food) and so I AM asking. Thank you!!
