Dir Biyabir 2026 Project Fundraiser
For over 19 years Dir Biyabir a registered 501 (c)(3) based in California, has been funding highly impactful grass-roots projects in Ethiopia working with our local partner Adheno. We have had a special focus on the highly disadvantaged Amhara region and especially N Shewa. Our projects focus on the most deprived and dis-enfranchised populations and include Emergency Relief, Environmental Rehabilitation, Education, and Economic Empowerment via micro-enterprises.
These are very challenging times and we know there are many causes competing for your attention, we ask for your support based on the tangible impact we have shown in the last 19 years. For folks who are looking for a charity to support in observance of this Lent period, we hope we earn your trust.
GOALS
This fundraiser is rallying support for 3 critical projects to be funded by Dir Biyabir in 2026 in the besieged Amhara region of Ethiopia. Total budget for the 3 projects is $110,000. All funds raised will be allocated to the 3 projects below, the gap will be covered from Dir Biyabir’s coffers:
- Expand School Rehabilitation & Repair in N Shewa (budget: $25,000): Complete repair of war damage to Workegur Primary School and build new classrooms for Zanjira Primary School
- Youth and Women Entrepreneurship in and Around Debre Birhan (budget: $40,000) : Improve livelihoods and the local economy by providing entrepreneurship training and starting capital/material to two highly disadvantaged groups:
- 60 women living in extreme poverty, with a focus on victims of sexual violence by government soldiers in the war in the Amhara region. Help these traumatized women start to rebuild their lives through micro-businesses that can sustain them and their families.
- 30 unemployed youth who are currently frustrated by the lack of jobs but are motivated to improve their lives and create new jobs by starting and growing small businesses
- Provide Second Round of Seeds and Veterinary Medicine for Farmers in Bugna (budget: $45,000): Following up on the success of our 2025 project to help farmers in the devastated Bugna region of Wello, build more resilience in this community by providing another round of seeds as well as veterinary medicine.

- 100% of your donation is tax-deductible in the US as Dir Biyabir is a registered non-profit. *spotfund will be emailing you a tax receipt
- For larger donations, we encourage you to help us avoid fees by either using Zelle (we are registered for Zelle under dirbiyabir@gmail.com) OR sending a check payable to “Dir Biyabir” to Dir Biyabir P O Box 914, Mountain View, CA 94042. We will issue you a tax receipt by email so please include your email.
- If you work for a company that has an employee match program we urge you to request a match for your donation by submitting the *spotfund receipt. If you do request a match please do so as early as possible since the process of releasing the matching funds can take up to 2 months
