Four Women Racing Across the Pacific Ocean

In June of 2024 Hericane Rowing will be racing across the Pacific Ocean, rowing to Hawai’i as fast as we can in an attempt to beat the world record of 34 days 14 hours.

The World's Toughest Row is one of the toughest endurance races on Earth, covering 2,800 miles of Pacific Ocean from Monterey, California, to Hanalei Bay in Kauaʻi, Hawaiʻi.

This race is not possible without the support of others. We are raising money for our boat, entrance fee, and all equipment and food necessary to have a safe crossing. We would love to have you along for the journey.

Any donation of $200 or more will be considered a Hall of Fame donation. Your face  or name will be displayed on the boat so you can race alongside us.

Follow @hericanerowing (instagram) @hericane_rowing (TikTok) or go to worldstoughestrow.com to learn more.

Hello from Hawaii!!!

Incase you haven't heard, we crossed the Pacific!!!

We wanted to give a huge thank you to everyone who supported us through our crossing and also to everyone who donated.

One of our sponsors, Super Salve, Co. has graciously wanted to give you all 15% off when you order their products with code: hericane15 because you have donated to this amazing cause for Planned Parenthood!

We got into Hanalei Bay around 5:00 am, welcomed by friends and family. We were overwhelmed by the feeling of being finished and the love that was shown to us.

Thank you for believing in us, thank you for supporting our cause, thank you for making us strong.

Our official time for this trek was 40 days, 22 hours and 14 min. It was 40 days full of wildlife, cold waves, flying fish, pop-up cargo ships, night time sing-alongs, and taking on challenge after challenge. We faced obstacles as a team and walked onto the beach closer friends than we were at the beginning.

We couldn't have done it without your support. You will hear this time and time again, but thank you and we appreciate every single person who has supported this endeavor.

There is still more work to be done, but for now we are making our way back home, prepping Brizo for her shipping container and just soaking up the feeling of rowing across the Pacific.

Hi Everyone!

We have been fastly approching the start line and have been very busy down in the Monterey area training and fixing up the boat for our lauch date.

We have been able to take her out on the water for a couple practice rows and successfully completed a 24 hour Row.

We also renamed her as she is on a new journey with us and her first crossing of the Pacific. We as a team agreed to name her Brizo.

Brizo is an Ancient Greek Sea Goddess who is known as the protector of mariners, sailors and fisherman. She is also known to interpret dreams and was often worshipped by the women in Delos who would pay homage to her by placing food in their small boats as an offering to the goddess for protection on their voyages.

We paid homage to Brizo by offering her our favorite snacks and making sure that Poseidon accepted Brizo as our new boat name by christening her properly with a renaming boat ceremony.

We appricate everyones support and welcoming nature from the communities that we have reached out too. We couldn't have made it this far without everyones support. From the bottom of our hearts, we cannot thank you enough.

Much love from Brizo and the Hericane Family. We will see you out on the water!

Hello Everyone!

We all hope you had a fun holiday season and as we ramp up at the start of the year, here are a couple of updates!

Last year was a busy one for the team as we were getting ourselves prepared for this race and now we are here just 5 months away from the start of our race!

We are still hard at work in the background with fundraising, training, certifications, and prep work for our boat, Rose’s, arrival, which is scheduled for February 4th! Once that happens you will see us hit the ground sprinting to the start line! We had two of our teammates do a fundraiser in Flagstaff, Arizona (per the picture they woke up to the view of the Grand Canyon) and we have another one upcoming in Bend, Oregon.

We have our final Sea Survival training happening in the beginning of February, and then we will be ready to begin our full on-the-water training. Most of our team is relocating to Monterey, California these upcoming weeks so we are able to train in the beautiful Monterey Bay.

It has been a year and a half of hard work, planning and preparing to get to this point, and we wouldn’t have made it this far without all of your support. We are still doing fundraiser events to gather the small pieces to make this puzzle complete.

In just a few short weeks we will be together as a team and out on the water getting to know our boat and putting our navigation, marine radio, and safety training to work. We will be posting more and more updates as we are more than excited to bring you along for the journey of a lifetime!

Hello Everyone!

Our team just finished up our first big fundraising event, and it was an incredible experience. We partnered with the Sports Bra, a sports bar in Portland, Oregon dedicated to showcasing and celebrating women’s sports.  Our team had a fun night sharing our story and connecting with friends and family in the Portland community. It was a night full of love and support and celebrating how far our team has come in the last year.

This event took months of planning and emails to come together and would not have been possible without the support of so many people. We want to thank Jenny Nguyen and the Sports Bra team for sharing their space; Shelley Elkovich and For Bitter or Worse for creating and donating a specialty drink; Sarah Moshman for allowing us to share her documentary, Losing Sight of Shore; Nate Travers and Rendered.co for screen printing and donating team shirts; and all of the local businesses that donated gifts for our raffle event. Thank you to everyone who came out to see us, we felt so supported and loved by everyone who stopped by.

We learned a lot from this event and already have a few more planned. Later this year we will be working with Scandals Bar in Portland and their Giving Tree event and creating another event with them to support Planned Parenthood. We plan to host similar events in Bend, Oregon, Flagstaff, Arizona, and Monterey, CA, three more communities to share and connect with. We will keep you updated on event dates as they get closer and we hope to see you there!
