Hello friends,
As many of you may know, our Berni has been on medical leave for almost a year now. First, she was battling complications prior to and then after her hysterectomy. Following her surgery, her doctors discovered ovarian cancer and yet another, even more serious battle began. Her initial round of chemotherapy killed most, but not all of her cancer.
Berni has started her second round of chemotherapy. There have been delays in some of her treatments caused by various factors. She's had a lot of side effects from the cancer and the treatments.
She was planning on going back home to the Philippines in December, but with everything that is happening, she's looking at options to fly home sooner. There are two major barriers to making this happen. She needs to feel well enough to fly for 14 hours and lack of funds since she's been out of work for so long.
I'm sharing this update to the story with an updated goal. The funds that have been raised so far have all gone to medical treatment and housing costs. Now, we are trying to raise money to buy Berni a ticket home! She has so much family there that it's not feasible to fly them all to the States.
