Since his diagnosis in fall of 2022, my father, Lawrence Worthington, has been the most resilient cancer fighter. In and out of numerous hospitals, seen by numerous doctors, some of which contributed nothing to his fight. Despite receiving unclear answers and helpful treatment 50% of the time, Andy kept his spirits high and pushed through the pain and hardship to get back to spending time with his family. He lived by a simple motto in his lifetime and that was to work hard and do whatever it took for our family. If that meant spending blistering days in the sun doing back-breaking work for food on the table, extracurriculars, and the luxury of vacationing to the Jersey shore- he did it for us.
for those who got the pleasure of meeting and talking to my dad, (he’d probably hold you in a conversation for hours) but also you could tell he genuinely cared about everyone. He loved his family and friends. He always talked highly of his friends and he spent nights scrolling through pictures on his phone of his family. He always made an emphasis on keeping the family tight.
As much of a character he truly is, stubbornness, resilience, and grit can only take a person so far before the ugly disease of cancer will consume his body.
