This upcoming January, I'm setting out on a heartfelt journey to Belize with the Sertoma club. I’ll be working with individuals who are deaf and hard of hearing, a cause that strikes close to home. My son, who struggles with hearing loss, has taught me firsthand the challenges faced by those without adequate resources. Each obstacle he's overcome has deepened my resolve to extend hope and support to others who face similar hurdles.
Living in the supportive embrace of Colorado Springs, I've witnessed the power of community spirit to bring about real change. It's the warmth and resilience of this community that I hope to carry with me to Belize. The funds raised will go directly toward providing essential resources, from hearing aids to educational materials, making sure these valuable tools reach those who need them most.
This opportunity holds profound significance for me—a chance to give back, inspired by the journey my family and I have undertaken. As I pack my bags, filled not only with supplies but with stories and lessons from my son, I am eager to share these experiences with others, creating a ripple of compassion and support.
