The New Studio on Broadway’s People of Color Affinity Group at NYU was founded this past school year to create a space where all artists, especially those involved in the musical theatre world, can feel seen, heard, and supported. As president and founder, I am proud to lead a group dedicated to fostering judgment-free conversations among students, faculty, and staff. Our mission is to assess and share the needs of our communities, ensuring authentic representation in departmental programs and events. We honor the lived experiences of people from all backgrounds and uplift all voices through performance and creative outlets, challenging stereotypes and advocating for thoughtful, well-executed representation within NSB.
We are seeking support to help us secure venues for cabarets and other events that will showcase the incredible talent and stories within our community. The funds raised will go directly toward venue rental fees, equipment, outreach, snacks and drinks, and Q&A/info sessions. These resources are essential for us to host impactful events, bring people together, and provide opportunities for POC voices to shine both on and off the stage.
We invite you to join us on this journey. Your support will help us continue building a welcoming, empowering space for artists of color at NYU and beyond. Every contribution, no matter the size, brings us closer to our goal of expanding understanding, challenging preconceived notions, and advocating for authentic representation. Thank you for believing in our vision and helping us make a difference at NSB.
