Hey friends,
I’d like you to meet Aslan, a cat who was mistreated and abandoned.
A couple of weeks ago, I saw his photo online, and something about his sad, squinty eyes pulled me in.
When I visited him at the Cobb County Animal Shelter, I was heartbroken. His eyes were nearly shut, with brown discharge leaking out, and his fur was a tangled mess.
He was so underweight that it was hard to believe he was only two or three years old.
*below is the photo from the shelter*

The shelter staff didn’t know what was wrong, and with limited funds, Aslan had gone a month without proper care.
Worse, he’d been returned to the shelter because he didn’t get along with his previous adopters’ cat. Knowing this was his second time there, I realized his chances of finding another home were slim since I learned that even rescue groups won’t take cats in who might bring infection into their facility.
Even though I already have a cat, I couldn’t leave him behind, so I adopted Aslan on that day and took him straight to my vet, Dr. Erik Johnson.
We found out he has a condition called Entropion, where his eyelids turn inward and his eyelashes scratch his corneas. It’s painful and could lead to blindness if untreated.
Dr. Johnson says Aslan needs surgery, along with other care like FIV testing and a shave to remove his mats. Normally, this would cost up to $2,000 per eye, but Dr. Johnson offered to do it all for around $1,500—a generous discount, but still more than I can afford.
Since Aslan likely can’t stay with me long-term because he doesn’t get along with other cats, I’m hoping to get him the care he needs so he can find a new, loving home.

If you can help with a donation, no matter the amount, it would make a big difference. Your support will give Aslan the chance to live pain-free and see the world clearly, setting him up for a brighter future.
And if now isn’t a good time for you to donate, that’s okay. Sharing Aslan’s story or sending good thoughts his way is just as helpful.
Thanks for caring about Aslan and for any support you can offer.
With love,
August & Aslan
