If I could I would pretend this year didn't happen and that our family didn't take so many knocks during it.
If you don't know our family story, our sweet 5 year old son Daxton was diagnosed with reoccurring brain tumors and is currently going through Chemo treatments at St John's children's hospital in Springfield IL. I am a diabetic and had already had all 10 of my toes removed then in April I had a bone get infected and it went sceptic and resulted in a below the knee amputation. Those are the short version, if you wish to know more you can contact me.
You may recognize our names, this is not the first fund raiser we have held. Once again I have amazing friends telling me to swallow my pride and ask for help.
If you know me then you know that asking for help is not one of my stronger traits, that I will try to do everything I can to help my self before doing so. But we are drowning with more and more expenses and medical bills rolling in. We are having to remodel our house to fit a wheel chair, we had to add a ramp just so I could leave the house since we had stairs. All of this is at our own expense. It has eaten up all of what little savings we had.
And its not just my bills coming in but Daxy's as well. Chris had to take FMLA time from work to take care of me in the hospital and to take Dax to his chemo treatments. He has to take time off once a week to take him to his treatments.
Now our van which is the only car we have will not go into reverse. We rely on this car to get dax and I to our appointments. Dax alone has 3 scheduled appointments per week. That's not including all of my appointments. That would cost us a fortune in ubers.
We know how tight things are for folks as all of us struggle to find a new normal after everything this year. I know this is a large goal to try to meet but everything is just piling further and further up as more bills come in. The money would go to medical bills and to fix the van.
