I am at the beginning stages of creating a fundraiser for something very close to my heart. I am reaching out to all of my friends who want to help. Some of you may know my sister and best friend, Sydney Gilson. She has the biggest heart of gold. Since Sydney was 21, she has been taking care of a little girl named Alysia.  Alysia’s mother was unable to care for her, so Sydney stepped up and did what came natural to her and cared for this child who now calls her mommy. She came into Sydney’s life when she was 5 months old and will now be 5 in December.
       Sadly, Alysia’s mother passed away before any legal documents were created for Sydney to have custody. They are now in a situation where this needs to become a permanent t living situation, as Alysia starts school in a year. Sydney is a single mom who works a modest job paying for all of Alysia’s living expenses, including full time daycare as she works everyday. She was trying to get custody with the courts herself but found out this is a very complicated case since Alysia has no biological parents to sign over rights. Sydney has found herself in a situation of needing to hire an attorney to work this case and doesn’t have the financial means to do so. (She also had someone take the case pro bono but they decided that the case was to complicated and dropped the case) I am thinking about creating an event where we can raise money to help ensure Alysia gets to stay in her home with those that she calls family and love her very much.
