My name is Dr. Ahmed Abdullah. For decades, I dedicated my life to helping people as a plastic surgeon. Then in 2019, everything changed. While performing emergency surgery on a child, I suffered a massive pulmonary embolism and barely survived. Soon after, the COVID pandemic struck.
To protect my staff and their families, I took out SBA loans to keep them paid and to keep my two small businesses afloat — my plastic surgery practice and a skincare company. At the time, I believed I’d continue operating for the rest of my life and could repay everything.
But in 2020, I was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. Over the following years I also needed a heart stent, underwent thyroid cancer surgery, and continued battling diabetes. My health has steadily declined, and I can no longer operate or earn what I once did.
Now, what began as a noble effort to care for others has left me with over $3 million in debt. My practice is closed, and my skincare business is struggling. The only path forward is bankruptcy.
But even that has a cruel barrier: filing both business and personal bankruptcy costs about $27,000 just to begin. Without this, I remain stuck with crushing debt and no way forward.
Asking for help is the hardest thing I’ve ever done. But I have no choice. I’m humbly asking for your support so I can cover the costs of bankruptcy and finally focus on my health and family.
Every donation, no matter the size, brings me closer to a fresh start and relief from this impossible burden.
With gratitude,
Dr. Ahmed Abdullah
