A Love Note to the Army God Continues to Build
If you know Remmie, you’ve experienced something that’s difficult to explain but impossible to miss.
This summer, Remmie will turn nine years old. She lives with an ultra-rare genetic disorder called ALG13-CDG, accompanied by epilepsy, developmental delays, and significant daily care needs. Though she doesn’t speak with words, she has a way of speaking directly to people’s hearts. There is a depth to her that cannot be measured by milestones, diagnoses, or medical charts.
When we first received Remmie’s diagnosis, our world felt turned upside down. We grieved, we questioned, and we wondered how we would navigate a road that felt so uncertain.
But God met us there.
Not all at once. Not with easy answers. One day at a time.
What we couldn’t see then is what He has spent nearly nine years teaching us now: some of life’s greatest treasures are often hidden in the places we would never choose to go. While our prayers have always been for healing—and still are—God has faithfully revealed Himself in the waiting.
Years ago, the Lord impressed two simple phrases upon our hearts: “Tell the story” and “Build the army.”
At the time, we didn’t fully understand what He meant.
Now we do.
The army was never about fundraising. It was about people. People willing to pray, encourage, show up, give, and stand in the gap when we couldn’t. Through this community, we have watched God provide caregivers, therapies, equipment, medical resources, encouragement, friendships, and countless reminders that we were never meant to carry this alone.
Today, Remmie’s care includes functional neurology, caregiving support, adaptive equipment, therapies, medical supplies, and the many unexpected needs that come with raising a medically complex child. Much of what helps her most is not covered by insurance, which is why we continue to share her story and invite others to walk alongside us.
If there is one thing this journey has taught us, it is this: God is good. Not only in the breakthroughs, but in the waiting. Not only in the answers, but in the unknowns.
Thank you for praying for our daughter. Thank you for loving our family. Thank you for being part of the story God continues to write.
The story is still being written, and what a gift it has been to watch God write it.
With love,
Grant & Lyndsey
