For the Love of Susan
If you’ve ever walked into the health store off 56th and Georgetown located in Indianapolis, chances are you’ve met Susan. Chances are you walked out feeling lighter than when you came in, not because of the products on the shelves, but because of the way Susan makes you feel heard and seen. Whether she’s offering a smile to a customer, finding free samples or coupons for someone in need, or simply listening like she has all the time in the world, she shows up for people. Every single day.
She’s the kind of person who remembers your name, asks about your aunt’s surgery, your kid’s graduation, or that hard week you had, and then genuinely checks back in the next time you see her.
Susan recently faced the unimaginable. After years of selflessly caring for her mother right up to her final breath, she received a cancer diagnosis, a twist no one saw coming, especially not someone who had just walked through so much grief with grace. Yet, even now, in the thick of her own battle, she’s still showing up for others. Still smiling. Still asking how you’re doing.
But now, it’s time we show up for her.
Medical bills are overwhelming. Treatments are expensive. And while Susan has always believed in the power of community, now is the time for that community to rise up around her.
Here’s how you can help!
1. Donate. I'm looking to raise $10,000.00 or more to help Susan during this season of her life, and even if you donated $1 it would have a huge impact. That dollar might feel small, but together they become hope and love! They become gas money to get to treatment, a meal on a hard day, or one less expense to worry about.
2. Another way is to please share this post! The more eyes, the more hearts, the more help we can gather. Share with your groups, organizations, friends and family.
3. Pray. I believe in the power of prayer, and if you can not give financially please pray.
Let’s be the village that Susan has quietly, consistently been building through every act of kindness and every beautiful smile she’s shared.
For the Love of Susan, let's make sure she knows just how loved she is.
