My name is Lauren and I am a mother and educator from California. I met Bara online while she was trapped in Gaza. We became friends and she told me what her and her family were going through. Bara was lucky, and was able to evacuate in September along with her child and husband. However, her family has been unable to leave and is living in horrific conditions.
I was lucky enough to meet Bara in person while I was in Europe. She is an amazing person and shared her story. While thinking of ways to raise money for her family, she pulled some suitcases out containing some throbes her mother had handmade. She told me that she wanted to sell them to collect funds for her family to buy essentials like winter clothes, food, and clean water.
I told her that these are so beautiful and handmade by her mother, and that she should keep them since she has ann emotional attachment to them. However, she told me her family is desperate and so we decided on a price that would help feed her family for about three months.
However, once I posted them online, people shared the same feeling that they couldn’t be sold. So here I am, making a fundraiser to buy them back for her. Thank you all so much for your kind hearts. Please enjoy these beautiful pictures of the throbes. Her mother spent over a year making each of them especially for her.
