I never thought I'd be 1 in a million, but here I am. Fighting a rare brain disease, called "Moyamoya." I am raising money for travel, medical, and living expenses. I am currently on short term leave from work and only getting a percentage of my pay.
Sunday April 3rd, 2022 I woke up with a headache. Wednesday April 6th, I had left side weakness in arms, legs, and face. Went to ER, slurred speech started on arrival. I was then transferred to a trauma 1 hospital in Pittsburgh, was released later that night.
Friday April 8th, headache had gotten worse, went to ER. Got diagnosed with stenosis/ dissection of the right carotid artery. Monday April 11th, woke up with spots in left eye. Tuesday April 12th, was advised to go to ER. Called 911 and was transported to the closest ER for evaluation. Then from there was life flighted to Pittsburgh. They did a DSA procedure, from that I was diagnosed with moyamoya.
Moyamoya is a chronic and progressive condition of the arteries in the brain. People with Moyamoya have narrowing of the blood vessels that lead to blockages and can lead to strokes, seizures, and hemorrhages. It is not curable but treatment is a cranial bypass.
