I am a Veteran of Desert Storm, Iraq and Homeland Security Operations after 911.

There was a time when I needed help. I had tried different avenues and was left feeling worse. Then I met these guys at a car shop, B Wilds, they were just setting up their business. Then they started helping Veterans. It all started with a car build for a veteran but before you knew it they set up a food bank with excellent food, they even deliver to older veterans. On their Facebook page they post all their needs and accomplishments. I met my new after service battle buddy because of these great volunteers who help people like me without going through tons of red tape and bullshit.!

The volunteers at Happiness for Veterans are the best!

Then I found out Zach Baker was running with a flag for miles to raise awareness for Veterans. Our first experiment, with fundraising raised $750! This will pay for a pig or too.  If Zach was going to run with a flag for others like me, then its my duty to raise money and the awareness he deserves. He is an amazing young man.

Please help us raise awareness and feed Veterans healthy food and conversation.

I couldn’t of asked for a more perfect day yesterday. A run not only to honor America, but to honor and raise awareness to the 22 veterans we lose EVERY SINGLE day to suicide. 22 veterans die by suicide EVERY SINGLE day in the United States. I had the privilege of running 22 miles (1 mile for each veteran). From Grand Rapids all the way to Sand Lake.

I would love to shoutout the people who have supported me and donated for and during this run.

Zach Skogheim at The Loading Dock fitness (sponsor)
Tom from Rockford American Legion (donation)
Rockford American Legion color guard
Laura Jewell for the drone footage
Robert Gale for the encourage and support with riding along with me
Laura Swinehart-Lamoreaux for the encourage during a part of the trail
Lakeside Inn! Thank you for the fresh meal after the run. Thank you for paying for the food as well. I will be stopping at your place for food every single year after the run.

Betty Jordan (donation)
Lonnie Martin (donation)
Jill Howard (donation)
My parents (donation)

And to all of the other people who donated with cash, I’m sorry I never got your name. But I would love to say thank you for the donations as well.

Thank you to my beautiful girlfriend for being there for me as well. Sarah Koch you’re the best! Thank you for the sign you made, and just being there at checkpoints along the route. Having you there made the trip a little easier and I hope you know that!

And finally, thank you to ALL of the BRAVE men and women WHO HAVE FOUGHT, and who CONTINUE to fight for the freedoms we ALL love in this country. I will ALWAYS run with the Stars and Stripes. I can’t wait for next year.
