We are a nonprofit Volunteer Fire Department serving the community outside the city limits of Gallatin, TN. Our small but dedicated team works tirelessly to protect our neighbors—relying on limited funding and the unwavering commitment of our volunteers.
We receive just $24,000 a year from the county, which barely covers the cost of fuel for our trucks and insurance. Everything else—from gear to repairs—comes from fundraising and the pockets of our volunteers. Now, after a series of devastating setbacks, we’re reaching out for help.
What Happened
-
Our Rescue Truck Broke Down: We took it to a local mechanic and paid $7,800 for a new engine. After months of delays and broken promises, we found out the shop owner was arrested for fraud. We recovered our truck in worse condition than when we dropped it off—nonfunctional, damaged, and missing parts. No refund. No recourse. Our Chief even had to pay out of pocket just to have it towed back.
-
Our Backup Engine is Failing: It can’t pass pump tests, the batteries are failing, and it’s a 1984 model with nearly impossible-to-find parts.
-
Storm Damage to Our Station: Recent storms tore open our roof. Rain now pours into our day room, creating water damage and dangerous black mold.
Despite everything, our Chief has continued to pay for equipment and repairs out of his own pocket—because he'd rather shoulder the burden than risk the safety of the community.
