I’m a full-time working mother of four, facing an urgent need for safe and stable housing for my children. After overcoming a traumatic relationship and establishing my own home for my kids, I faced a life-threatening and traumatic pregnancy and unforeseen health complications that worsened after giving birth. I now find myself in a position where I must reach out for help to regain stability. Despite exhausting local resources, shelters, and loan options, I remain determined to provide a safe, consistent home for my children and myself.
Before my youngest child was born, I had already overcome a traumatic relationship and successfully moved into my own home with just my children. I had worked hard to create a stable environment for them, and for a time, things were going well.
During my pregnancy, I faced severe complications, including hyperemesis gravidarum, mobility and joint problems, and extreme physical strain. After giving birth in October, my health worsened significantly with postpartum preeclampsia that caused stroke-level blood pressures, and additional hip and joint issues that required hospitalization until November. Recovering from these challenges while caring for my newborn was physically and emotionally overwhelming, yet I returned to work just four days after discharge.
Throughout this time, I remained fully employed, working to catch up on bills and provide for my family despite continuing medical setbacks and unforeseen disruptions at my job. Unexpected technical issues at work caused nearly two weeks of unpaid leave, which made it impossible to save for rent or deposits. I spent countless hours late at night while my children were sleeping, searching online and scrolling through social media for resources so that I could reach out first thing in the morning. Despite my efforts, I was met with dead ends and no assistance. Local programs, nonprofits, and loan options have either on hold or have long waiting lists.
Despite these challenges, I’ve kept my children’s basic needs met. They have food, clothing, diapers, and formula, and I have done everything possible to care for them. But the stress of not having a stable home weighs heavily on us every day.
Above all, securing a stable home is about giving my children consistency, safety, and support. They are incredible kids — dedicated to schoolwork, active in sports, and involved in extracurricular activities — and it saddens me every day to see them face instability despite their hard work and focus. While I remain fully employed and committed to providing for them, my unforeseen circumstances have made it difficult to maintain the stable environment they need to thrive.
Regaining stability means more than just shelter — it means ensuring my children can continue excelling academically and in activities, feel secure, and grow up in a safe environment. Every donation helps move us one step closer to safety, stability, and a brighter future for my children.
Thank you for taking the time to read our story and for supporting our family during this critical time.
