I am the sole supporter of my family of four. My youngest son who is almost 10 has Down syndrome and autism. Just like so many people we are struggling to make ends meet and it's pretty much become critical mass at this point. One large electric bill pretty much put our paycheck to paycheck budget in a tailspin. My sons needs a lot of specific items to eat and for self-care that insurance doesn't cover. This includes toileting supplies, special youth pouches (because he can't chew solid foods yet). He will only tolerate certain foods so I buy things like chef boyardee and canned fruit in bulk. Because I must keep up with this stuff we pretty much don't have groceries for the rest of us . Yes, we absolutely utilize our neighborhood food shelves, each resources around us. These no longer have so many options as they are being used above capacity. Every paycheck I have been reducing our groceries and buying the very cheapest of everything and was still only making it about a week into the pay period.
All I want is enough to take stock groceries for a couple of weeks so that we can maybe get even. It is so hard to get even when each Payday is taken by outstanding bills. I have worked since I was 14 years old (53 now)and this is the first time in my life I haven't been able to recover or pull through.
I don't have anyone else to get a job to help and I work a full-time job from home that I've worked for since 2006. I can't take on anymore with my son who has special needs because he's homebound and everything is done here. I also have rheumatoid arthritis which makes everything incredibly difficult.
I'm just hoping to get some funding for groceries and toiletries for this household I feel like I could pull it together if I could just get a handle on this.
Please let me know if you have any questions or advice and I thank you so much for your consideration!
