Hello,

We are Syd and Marin.

We are reaching out to our community for help in establishing our non-profit organization, Bailar Con el Sol.

Over the better part of a year, we have been working as independent contractors at local strip clubs on occupied Multnomah territory (Portland, Oregon) and as organizers of Bailar Con el Sol. It has taken us a year to discover what BCES means and what it looks like. At this point, it is apparent that certain communities need more support, ourselves included.

Bailar Con el Sol provides free food, free clothing, and free hygiene/safety products to community members in need.  This includes, but is not limited: unhoused people, LGBTQ+, and BIPOC. BCES hopes to inspire more community love, inclusivity, and connectedness between each other and Earth.

About two months ago, we decided we couldn’t keep working at the club for safety reasons (ie. constantly making below minimum wage). Over the past two months, while dancing at the club, we applied for multiple jobs, had our car towed, sold our “valuables” for groceries, and finalized our starting business plans for Bailar Con el Sol.

Currently, none of the places we have applied to have expressed their interest in hiring us. We feel in our soul, our bodies, our minds, that we are not safe in the club. Simultaneously, we feel that we need to establish Bailar Con el Sol as a non-profit organization. As far as work/income goes, Syd feels safe in re-establishing themself as a tattoo artist and Marin feels safe in re-establishing themself as a performing musician while we crowdfund for Bailar Con el Sol.

For us to re-establish ourselves in society as artists, we need help with bills, groceries, and transportation. Syd is reaching out to their tattoo community for help in re-upping their supplies. Marin needs help in retrieving their equipment on loan at the pawn shop and purchasing an amplifier. In order to start community outreach for Bailar Con el Sol, we need a personal vehicle, a generator for events, and to submit the non-profit application to the state.

We are asking our community to help us start providing free community safety where it is lacking by supporting us (financially) through this transition.

If you have any questions, concerns, and/or suggestions, please feel free to email us at bailarconelsol@gmail.com. Thank you for your time and consideration.

Hello,

At this time, we are taking a pause on applying for jobs. Since possible employers show no interest in hiring us, we feel like it isn't in our best interest to continue looking (at this time). Instead, we will be spending more time advocating for Bailar Con el Sol.

We are hoping to mail our request for Bailar Con el Sol's pending approval as a national non-profit ASAP.

We will be applying for SNAP benefits and reaching out to local churches, organizations, and government officials for more support.

Our immediate goal for Bailar Con el Sol is to start our first projects.

There will be more information about these projects on the Bailar Con El Sol (@bailarconelesol) Instagram page. Follow for updates.

CW: str*pping

We are considering going back to club. Currently our supply of str*pper essentials is low. We are in need of shavers, body spray, wipes, outfits, makeup, Epsom salt, house fee, and bus fare. As you can imagine, it takes time and money to acquire the things we need and time to prep our mind and bodies.

We are considering going back to the club because working at the club ensures extra financial support.

If we are supported in returning to the club, extra funds (NON grocery/plant medicine/bill $$$) that are made at the club will be accounted for here.

Thank you for your donations, for sharing, and for holding space.
