On October 7th my mother found two beautiful dogs roaming Niagara Falls Boulevard in Niagara Falls, NY. We got them in the back of the car and drove them to our house and put them in our garage as a safe place for them to stay while we attempted to contact numerous animal shelters in hopes that someone would have room for them and be able to provide the care they needed until (hopefully) an owner stepped up to reclaim them. The shelters were at 100% capacity and we decided to keep the dogs at our house because the two dogs were clearly a bonded pair and we couldn’t heart to chance them being separated. As the weeks went on, we attempted to find new homes for them because we already had three dogs and two cats in the household but no one was able to commit to adopt two large dogs. We noticed right away that the female dog had a severe limp on her hind leg, a protruding hernia on her belly button and both dogs had extreme itchy/dry skin. We continued to keep both dogs in hopes that someone would step forward to claim, or a shelter would open up.
Fast forward a few weeks Niagara Falls Police Department found the previous owners and with a statement of a witness who saw the owners dump the dogs in a parking lot they were able to pursue criminal charges against them. The previous owners did inform police of their names and stated they have received zero veterinary care in their lifetime. However, the dogs were still under our temporary care with no end in sight for a rehome.
Its now 12/07/2023 and the dogs have (as expected) stole our hearts and we have decided to keep them permanently in our home, however we can not afford the necessary medical attention both dogs require. One dog (Coco) was seen at the vet today (Dr. Mike Furry Friends Small Animal Hospital)  and we were informed that she would need ACL surgery on her hind leg in additional to other routine car that dogs needs.
The surgery Coco would need is an estimated $3600.00. Today when she attended the vet we already paid almost $400.00 in the minimum care. Both dogs need all yearly shots, tick and flea care and the male dog needs to be fixed.

We are asking for any help in giving these dogs the care they deserve and have been neglected due to their previous owners, any little bit will help as taking in two large stray dogs is  expensive and it wasn’t an expense we anticipated having. Thank you in advance!
