My dad doesn't have an enemy to speak for.  The most generous, kind,  patient,  humble, honest, selfless man i have ever known.  But cancer doesn't care what kind of person you are. And this particular kind is especially viscious. Metastatic prostatic adenocarcinoma with small cell neuroendocrine differentiation. My dad needs immediate and aggressive treatment at the best facility possible.  Nothing about this process has been fast or easy and he has had to continue working despite it all in order to have the insurance to cover the medical expenses of getting it properly diagnosed. I am trying to raise funds for my dad to help pay for travel and other expenses not covered by insurance so that he can get the treatment he needs for the best possible outcome. Any amount would be graciously appreciated. He has never been someone to ask for help, never wanting to be a burden to anyone.  But if any of you know my dad, you don't know anyone more deserving of a kind gesture.

I'm so sorry I haven't posted an update on a long while.  My dear dad, Rod, sought care at Mayo where he's being overseen by Dr Kwan and his incredible team.  When he arrived for the first time,  Dr Kwan told my dad that he had the most aggressive kind of prostate cancer and if he were to continue with only the treatment he was on (hormone blockers) he would probably only have a few months to live. Now,  after 9 treatments of chemotherapy every three weeks, the scans show an incredible difference in cancer. We went from devastated to full of hope that complete remission is possible!  He has 6 more rounds every chemo every 6 weeks now.  This one is radioactive and targets the prostate cancer cells directly which  makes side effects more tolerable.

The funds,  unfortunately, have been completely used as the chemotherapy he was receiving was overseen by the oncologist that developed the protocol for prostate cancer in Minneapolis, Minnesota . And the remainder will be in Rochester.  Between the gas, the food and hotel stays and the medical bills,  all the funds have been depleted.

We are endlessly appreciative of all you have done! And if you find it in you to give again and lessen the financial stress of this journey to recovery,  we are forever grateful.

Thank you all so much!

Anneliese

The first image is the top right image,  the cancer was literally everywhere.  The most recent image is the bottom left picture.  Dad has been fighting so hard! Determined to kill this invader!  I'm so so proud of the hard work he has done. He's been so amazing and taken everything thrown at him with so much grace.

First,  thank you all so so so much for your gracious donations!  It has been such an uplifting experience to know so many people are loving on my dad and us all during this unpredicted obstacle. This week he had his first of many visits to Minnesota at Mayo Clinic. There,  he saw Dr Kwan, a specialist in the area of metastatic prostate cancer.  Unfortunately he confirmed what we already feared,  that this is a very aggressive, sneaky form of prostate cancer. The beautiful thing about going to mayo is for the first time there was talk about curing this cancer, not simply managing for the rest of dad's life. He has been referred to an oncologist in Minneapolis who is the developer of chemotherapy regimen for prostate cancer and is considered the #1 guy in the entire world.  I feel like this is an answered prayer in a huge way.  He is currently waiting for that referral to go through and get scheduled.  Thank you again for your amazing support! Please share this fundraiser with others if you are able!  Thank you again!
