Hi! My name is Caitlin Brennan, a senior at the Academy of the Sacred Heart, and one of the teen leaders at Heart of Passion. Us teen leaders are in the process of planning and searching to fund the annual "Red Carpet Day," a 4-day VIP retreat for teens with cancer in New Orleans this summer. Red Carpet Day is a chance for teens with cancer who come from all over the southeast region to indulge the ultimate New Orleans experience. We eat breakfast in front of the sharks at the aquarium, eat dinner and dance on the Creole Queen riverboat, and tour the city's best qualities, but most importantly of all, they bond and create lifelong friendships away from the challenges of hospital life. During these 4 days, these teens transform from "cancer kids" to "extraordinary teenagers." After my first RCD experience, I knew I had to continue being part of this mission because I saw how deeply it connects guests, leaders, and mentors, leaving a lasting impression on everyone.
