Hi, this is Tiara and Matthew Pinckney. We're reaching out to raise funds for our son Elias, who plays wheelchair basketball.
Since Elias began playing wheelchair basketball, we’ve seen him grow so much—not only as an athlete, but as a person. Basketball has helped him build social skills, perseverance, and confidence, and it’s also improved his fine and gross motor skills. Elias lives with a physical disability, and he works hard every single day. This sport gives him a place where his determination and teamwork truly shine.
Wheelchair basketball has given Elias a sense of belonging and independence. On the court, he’s not defined by his disability. Instead, he’s known for his effort, teamwork, and love for the game. The friendships he’s made and the lessons he’s learned have changed his life and inspired our family.
This season, Elias has the chance to play in four out-of-state wheelchair basketball tournaments. These events are important for his growth as an athlete and let him compete, learn, and meet other adaptive athletes from across the country. But the travel costs are a lot for us.
We’re raising funds to help cover the following costs:
- Travel expenses, including gas and transportation, as tournaments are being held in Jacksonville FL, Alabama, and Louisiana
- Hotel stays during tournament weekends
Each tournament is a considerable expense. With four tournaments coming up, our goal is to raise $5,000.
Any donation, big or small, will help Elias keep playing a sport that has made a real difference in his physical, emotional, and social growth. If you can’t donate, sharing this fundraiser is just as meaningful to us.
Thank you for supporting Elias and helping him continue to grow, compete, and thrive through wheelchair basketball. Any additional funds raised will go to future tournaments or equipment for Elias.
With gratitude,
The Pinckney family.
