Hello Family and Friends,
We are calling on you to pray for our Dad, Harold Bishop, some of you know him as Wayne. Dad has been ill for the last few years, what started as fatty liver has become liver disease which has also damaged his kidneys. He’s had ammonia build up causing horrible confusion, low blood pressure causing weakness and falls, and has ascites which is a build up of fluid in the abdomen that can be very painful, and cause breathing difficulties. The fluid can be drained, but each procedure causes infection risk and also further damages his kidneys.
On January 16th, he was feeling very weak and sick, thankfully we convinced him to go to the ER, when he arrived his blood pressure was so low it wouldn’t read, and he had 2 gallons of fluid in his abdomen. He was in the hospital in Radford for a week and a half, and was then transported via ambulance to Duke University Hospital in Durham, NC. He somehow got COVID between being admitted in Radford and arriving at Duke. Luckily, the COVID was mild and he was cleared a few days ago. The Transplant team is evaluating him for a liver and one kidney.
We are working to put a care plan in place for Dad’s recovery. We are going to need lodging as he will need to be within 30 minutes of the hospital for at least 30 days after he is able to leave the hospital. He will also need 24x7 care. If you are able, we would appreciate any assistance you can provide either financially, or physically, and please keep him in your prayers.
