My name is Cheri, I'm a single mom to 4. I work as a Home Care Aide.
My children and I are facing homelessness. We have court September 4th to come to a resolution. It will ultimately end with us having to move out, the question is when and how much money will be owed to the current landlord.
I was on a housing voucher. Unfortunately the landlord did not submit their paperwork in time which caused my housing voucher to be terminated. Thus, the back owed rent.
I was thrown into being a single mom after experiencing domestic violence.
Even in the midst of the grief and chaos, I was able to get my Home Care Aide certification and obtain a full time job.
Nonetheless, were about to lose our home.
I have toured an apartment through a private landlord.
They would like me to move in on September 1st.
The only setback is the deposit. In order to move in I have to pay $3,700.
I can afford the monthly rent, but I definitely don't have $3,700 to drop.
I'm asking for help here. I can't bear to put my kids through this.
I know it's a lot to ask, but I have to at least try.
