Support A New Mom: Awaiting A Miracle For Maternity Leave

After leaving a mentally-taxing job, it was no surprise that I would eventually face financial insecurity while being unemployed for several months. Even with sufficient experience, innovative skills, and a Master of Public Health degree from a prestigious institution, I still found it incredibly challenging to navigate today's overly complicated job market. Hundreds of job applications later (no exaggeration), I was blessed with a job that I believed would be a good fit for me. However, it came at an unideal time, because I would be starting my new job during my third trimester of pregnancy. Although I communicated my circumstances to HR prior to accepting the job, HR failed to clearly communicate to me that new associates are not benefits-eligible until after reaching 6-months of employment. Therefore, I will not receive maternity leave, short-time disability, or FMLA. Instead, I'll only be able to take personal leave without pay, which leaves me with the harsh reality of taking less time to bond with my precious baby when she arrives in October 2026 due to facing financial hardships the longer I am off work. Yet, I am still holding onto my Christian faith and believing for a miracle whether it be from donations on this platform or some other supernatural resource from God - my Heavenly Father.
