Brendan’s  Story

As Brendan’s  mother, I am having trouble writing this because I am his sole-provider and I am the one who has always seen to it that he has what he needs...

unfortunately that is not enough for us right now and I need your help...

My son Brendan was recently diagnosed with T-cell Acute lymphoblastic leukemia, or T-ALL.  T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia is a type of acute lymphoblastic leukemia characterized by an aggressive malignant neoplasm of the bone marrow. Acute lymphoblastic leukemia is a condition, wherein immature white blood cells accumulate in the bone marrow and crowd out normal white blood cells. As I stated earlier, I am my son's sole provider and caring for Brendan is no longer something I can do alone. Brendan  has started Chemotherapy and I am so incredibly proud of his spirit and . Brendan  is determined to fight. He is strong and he is brave and he is poised; but he is in need of support at this time. We are in need of your support at this time.

I have started this fundraiser to help support the care he will need to continue this fight... with love and gratitude, the Shizuru family kindly requests anything you can contribute to support us at this time. Thank you.

Brendan is doing well in his last phase of treatment. Thankfully we have not had any hiccups yet! We have two more years of him with no issues for him to be able to ring that bell Signaling his remission!

While he’s doing great health wise, things at home are still challenging. I finally found a job which I’ll be starting here very soon but we are now at risk of being evicted from me not having worked. If we get evicted, it will seriously impact my ability to start the new job as I’ll be having to pack up and get out and we won’t know where we’ll be going. We are so grateful for all the love & support and all the donations that were made thus far. Thank you so much!

Thank you all for the support so far. Brendan is about to finish up with phase 3 & will be starting phase 4 soon. I’m told this phase will be more frequent visits and a bit more intense than the last one.

Brendan is hanging in there. Thankfully no hospitalizations since January but he is still dealing with side effects like mouth sores which make it difficult for him to eat. Other than that, he’s still so positive as usual!

We’re still barely getting by so please consider sharing this link fat and wide if you can. Thank you so much.

Hello everyone! It’s Chelsie here…  We’d like to thank all of you who have supported us with donations and sharing our story. Brendan is now in phase 3 of treatment. There are 5 phases total. There have been many hiccups along the way with hospitalizations from Covid, kidney stones and most recently, pancreatitis caused by the chemo. He’s now over the pancreatitis, thankfully. The medicine that caused it is now off the table & he’s started a new one. They warned us that it may cause mouth sores and that’s exactly what’s happening right now. He may or may not have to be hospitalized from it if the pain gets worse. Please keep the prayers and good vibes coming our way. Thank you all so much. Love, Brendan, Chelsie and Thalia.

Brendan began phase 1 of his treatments on the 3rd of October. He goes once a week to get his chemo treatments as well as lumbar punctures each time. He is near the end of phase 1 and begins phase 2 called, consolidation in which he’ll be visiting the Dr 4-5 days a week. All prayers are welcome. Thank you all for your continued prayers and support!
