Hi there! 👋 My name is Jules, 38F, from the Lehigh Valley, PA, and I have a brain tumor 🧠 . I have created this individual personalized platform to help field donations with a target goal of 💵$50,000 to help with mortgage payments, utilities, bills, transportation, groceries, medical expenses, and other daily expenditures for myself and the light of my life my five-year-old son, Dominic 🦸🏼 for my recovery from neurosurgery and then as I begin my chemo and radiation.
I have a R frontotemporoparietal stage II astrocytoma, low grade glioma🩶. And yes, if left untreated, it will likely turn into a GBM (glioblastoma multiforme). For those that may or may not know, I’ve had one of the worst, yet transformative, years of my life. I have overcome tremendous hardships including and not limited to: trauma, 🖤mental health, addiction, divorce, custody battle, death of my father, loss of my career, my freedom, incarceration, my car, my license, my medical license is on hold pending completion and clearance of PHMP limiting my ability to practice and place 9 years of collegiate doctoral education on hold), my personal identity (literally my identity was stolen and every penny I had was fraudulently spent and per the bank and local PD is unrecoverable), my self-worth, and my financial independence. ❤️🩹This was no easy feat. Though, by the grace of God, my large loving support circle, my deep spirituality and faith, 11 months of sobriety, therapy, extraordinary efforts on self-work, healing, and self-discovery- I.Am.A.Survivor! 💪 ✝️🩶🖤
Which brings us to the now-my upcoming battle: a brain tumor. 🧠🥊As a neuro clinician for 15+ years, you can imagine the irony now having a brain tumor myself. I am scheduled for the OR on Tuesday, August 19th for a craniotomy, resection and biopsy followed by subsequent chemo and radiation. ☢️ I will be in the ICU with an incredible team that I have worked with for many years, so I know that I am in very capable and caring hands.😷👩🏽⚕️
Do I have any symptoms currently? No! Surprisingly, only headaches. 😶🌫️The astrocytoma has enhanced and extended posteriorly and medially causing mild mass effect and involvement of the pre-motor cortex, motor cortex, and on a most recent fMRI, the Brocas/Wernicke’s areas were activated. It is anticipated that I will likely have left-sided weakness and I pray, no other complications. 🏥🩺🥼
For those that know me, I have a huge ❤️ and am usually the one that’s always helping others 🤝; but I am learning to reach out and ask for help. 🙌And, I need help. I am still in my home, 🏡 though am nearing foreclosure. I have been unable to work due to the aforementioned hardships. I filed for unemployment was denied, appealed it and was also denied. SSI/SSD could take up to 6-9 months.
