Superbyteman is helping me find interested art patrons. As much as I don't like asking for help, well... here I am!
My Alter-ego S.C. Essai ( SCSI ) is a artist who works primarily in used computer parts. SCSI has not been physically able to do much at all for the last few years but due to three years of surgery, she thinks she can do it again. She's been offered a opportunity to participate in a sculpture walk out of town. This could be a chance to add a few pennies to the non-existent retirement fund as sales will be part of the show.
However, now the hard part. After being officially disabled several years ago due spinal stenosis, she's been unable to work and is squeaking along with the love and help of her family. She has not been able to afford to acquire the needed safety gear, and "art supplies" .
I'm also offering quilts and other things for sale if that interests anyone at my other site https://ko-fi.com/tkhula
Would you like to know more ? No? Then scroll through the pictures at least! Yes? Please read on after the pictures.

This Rocket in Flight was sold in Sept. of 2022 at the World Science Fiction Convention ( CHICON 3). This is the style the new sculpture will be.

This style doesn't recommend itself to large projects but it is safer to do.

This was S.C. Essai's contribution to the Austin GuitarTown ( 2006-2007) It is currently owned by a realtor in Cedar Park, Texas.
I know things are tough for most of us but any help you can give would really really be appreciated. Even if it's just sharing it along.
Thank you.
Now for those of you that want to know more:
What I need and why:
Transportation:
I am going to need help getting to the sculpture walk. Not something I can manage with my non-income. I figure it's a 2 day up and 2 day back trip for me since I can't drive 10 hours straight anymore.
Once I'm there I have a couple of friends in the area who can help me set things up.
SAFETY GEAR
My old gas mask is beyond repair and the canisters have become one with it. My old safety glasses are beyond dead. So.. I'd like to replace with a full face mask. They run about 140.00 with the correct filters.
Then there are the full arm gloves, and a disposable coverall ( wish list item).
ART SUPPLIES
I will need mounting poles and a mounting stand or two. What I can't make I can get fabricated for me at a makerspace.
RESIN -- Oh my goodness has this stuff gotten expensive, but it's important because it keeps stuff off of the artwork and because it keeps the artwork from becoming a health hazard.
To understand all that I offer this:
HOW THIS STUFF GETS MADE:
The reason I need hazard safety gear and resin is as follows:
My art is made of parts I scavenged from computers over the last 32 years. After a piece of hardware has failed, or become totally obsolete, I take it apart and disassemble to whatever level I'm to at the time. NOTHING IS LANDFILLED.
Most of it breaks into 4 areas :
Wires, and Pop Off Components - These are not hazardous unless there is solder clinging to them.
Metal Parts ( chunk aluminum, copper) - Again, not hazardous and no problems. I usually coat the aluminum in the resin as well because I don't want that wierd white oxidization happening.
PCB BOARDS - This is the best and prettiest part of my art I think. However, they are made of some seriously nasty chemical binders. NEVER handle broken motherboards or cards with your bare hands.
Don't cut this stuff without appropriate safety gear if you love your endocrine system, kidneys, liver, and breathing.
Unfortunately, due to the nature of PCB's, it's important that all art pieces be coated or protected in ways that do not allow any potentially harmful substances to be released. This means UV RESIN. Not cheap stuff. Just like fiberglass, once they are coated completely, they become safe.
If you have any questions, just drop me a note on the ko-fi or facebook or email.
Thank you!!!
