Hello friends, as most of us know sweet Canela hasn’t been well and unfortunatly due to her condition there was a change of plans for her recent surgery.  This has been extremely hard on both Marina and Steven not just emotionally but financially.  Im hoping we can come together and  support them during this time whether it’s a donation, a yummy meal delivered, groceries or help with dog walking when Canela is back on her feet!

Please reach out if you have any questions.

Sending lots of love to you all!

Hi friends and family!

We wanted to give you all an update on how Canela is doing now a couple months post surgery…

The surgery went well, albeit a few serious hiccups during her post operative care (we won’t get into it…) but long story short,  her levels were fluctuating for a while after the surgery and it was an odyssey to figure out what her right dosage of medication needed to be. We had a kidney damage scare in the process, but the important thing is that now she is stable, she’s happy, eating, being spoiled, going on hikes, digging trenches on the beach, all the things a doggo should do.

This whole process has been emotionally exhausting, and we really couldnt have gone through it without the support of our friends, friends of friends, family, and extended loved ones! We’ve connected with so many of you that have gone through similar moments, witnessing human empathy, and the shared joy of being so lucky to have the love of our four legged friends.

We’re still not fully in the clear, and it’s looking like it will be a long process for her body to fully heal, nonetheless, know that your support made a huge difference. We’re closing up the SpotFund with $2,820 (!!!) that will directly go to cover the many blood panel tests for her post-operative care and toward the surgery fund.

Thank you so, so, so much. We (don’t) hope that anyone has to go through this, but if you ever do, we’re here and will be there to pay it forward!

With love,

Canela, Steven, and Marina.

In these times it is hard to ask for help with your pet when there are so many other things happening to everyone around the world and here at home, but Canela is more than a pet to us, she’s our family. Canela’s Hyperparathyroidism was causing her body to over-produce calcium and that more sooner than later, would have led to renal failure. We were originally proposed a low cost non-invasive procedure (ethanol ablation) but complications surrounding the placement and size of the tumors turned the situation into a very expensive and unexpected surgery and unfortunately, there is no payment plan at the vet so we had to empty out all our bank accounts as well as max out our credit cards (Full breakdown for transparency in images). Anything is appreciated and nothing is expected. We love you all for taking the time to read or better yet, share this with anyone who may want or be able to help. Grateful for Family, Friends and Friends of friends.

Con Much Amor,

Steven, Marina y Canela <3
