On February 1st, during the snowstorm, my grandma’s beloved sheltie, Jazz, accidentally got out. Since that day, we have been searching nonstop. The last confirmed sightings were on Manchester Rd in Franklin Township, and for ten long days we've had no new leads.
Just when we were feeling hopeless, Jazz made an appearance again — 10 days later — still in the Manchester Rd area. We are incredibly relieved to know he is alive, but after being gone this long, he is most likely in survival mode. Dogs in survival mode are scared and instinctively run from people — even the people trying to help them. Today, he ran from the homeowner who spotted him.
Because of this, we cannot simply call him or chase him. We must rely on thermal drones and professional trapping services to safely bring him home.
Jazz is more than just a dog. My grandma lost her husband last fall to Alzheimer’s, and her dogs have been her comfort, her companions, and her emotional support as she learns to navigate life without her best friend. Jazz has been a huge part of helping her through her grief. Not knowing if he is safe, warm, or fed has left her heartbroken, stressed, and worried.
We have exhausted our time and personal resources trying to search on our own. We are now raising funds to cover the cost of:
