Hi! My name is Serenity Guzman, and I am a Junior at Marquette High School. I am involved in multiple activities, such as cheerleading, softball, prom committee, key club, and the IVVC IAI General Education Core Curriculum.
Outside of school, I work a part-time job almost every day at Primary Market, which is run by Kathryn Ewers, a teacher at Marquette High School. If I am not at a school event, I am probably working so that I can pay off my car. I was first given the opportunity to work there during my freshman year, and I have been there ever since.
But most of all, I put a lot of time into my faith. As a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, located in Somonauk, I play many roles. I have been an altar server for about eight years, and recently, I became a lector and third-grade catechist. I even volunteered during the summer for Vacation Bible School, which I plan to do again. I prepare for these parts so that I can put my best foot forward, especially in educating and speaking. It has become a part of my livelihood and it's something I really enjoy.
After high school, I would like to attend college and major in pre-medical. As an alumni of Envision EMI, I have been given the opportunity to attend their medical program this summer. There are many locations where this program is being held, one of them being the University of Michigan. The University of Michigan is where I hope to go after high school because of their many opportunities in the medical field. Through this program, I will be able to learn from doctors, get hands-on experiences, visit my dream school, and have the opportunity to receive two college credits through George Mason University.
However, my very busy schedule filled with college courses, sports, work, and involvement in my parish, makes it very hard to find time to fundraise. This is why I am asking for your help to get one step closer to achieving my dream of working in the medical field. Primary Market has made a very generous donation already, and with the help of my mom, we will be fundraising with homemade Chex-mix during Marquette Boy's Basketball home games as well. If you cannot donate, I ask that you please share! Thank you so much for your time and consideration!
