Mya Williamson is a young author and kidpreneur with a big heart and an even bigger mission: to make sure every child feels seen and valued through the power of books. From a young age, Mya noticed that many of the books shared at community events didn’t reflect the culture or identity of the kids reading them. Seeing this gap inspired her to write her own stories—stories where Black and brown children could see themselves in the characters and feel proud of who they are.
Through her annual Read to Succeed event, Mya gives back to her community by spreading her love for literacy and showing kids that Reading is Lit! This year, she and her team are hosting the 3rd Annual Back to School Bash, and they have a big goal: to make sure every child leaves with books they can connect with—books that celebrate diversity and reflect their unique identities.
Mya’s mission is to ignite a passion for early literacy and make reading exciting for all children, especially those who have never seen themselves represented in the stories they read. With your support, Mya and her team aim to give away hundreds of culturally relevant books, ensuring every child has the tools they need to succeed and grow a lifelong love for reading.
