The Heuberger family needs our help! Karen and Jim are members of St. Leonard in Muskego. Their son is a student at St. Leonard School and their daughter is a student at Muskego High School. Karen’s cancer journey began in September 2020 when she thought she had kidney stones. The doctors did not find kidney stones but instead, found a 12.5 cm mass on her left ovary. Not long after, she was diagnosed with Stage 4 ovarian cancer.
Over the last 3 years, Karen has endured countless rounds of chemotherapy, CT and PET scans, side effects, remission and finally, recurrence. Through it all, Karen's faith has stayed strong, she continues to trust God's plan, and has been a true inspiration to all who know her.
In July 2023 Karen stopped working so that she could focus on treatment and healing her family. This came a few months after Jim started a new job after being laid off from his long-time employer. The switch in insurance coverage meant new coverage and new deductibles and they would appreciate support from their family and friends!
Karen and Jim have done so much for their St. Leonard family. Karen wrote several grant proposals that resulted in St. Leonard School being awarded several of those grants. Karen served on the Parish School Committee and was a home and school volunteer for many years. Jim volunteered countless hours to help upgrade the IT infrastructure at the day school and was on the committee that introduced the Chromebooks and iPads to the students.
Please consider helping the family that has done so much to help so many other families. If you are not able to offer financial support, please offer spiritual support by including their family in your prayers.
