For anyone lucky enough to know Brian, you already know this: he’s the kind of person who makes everyone feel like family.
For almost two years, Brian has been the heart behind the bar at Otto’s Restaurant — remembering your drink order, chatting about sports, making you laugh when you needed it most, and somehow always making every customer feel seen. Although some may call him “attentive but aloof”, his quick wit, sarcastic humor, and genuine kindness have made him unforgettable to everyone who walks through the door.
But behind the smile and jokes, Brian has been quietly battling a rare form of arthritis since he was a teenager.
Recently the pain has become unbearable, and now he is in desperate need of hip replacement surgery. What most people don’t see is the physical toll it takes just for him to get through a shift, stand for long hours, and continue showing up for everyone around him. Despite the pain, Brian has continued doing what he always does — putting other people first.
If you know Brian, that won’t surprise you.
He’s the guy who checks in on everyone else before himself. The friend who would give you the shirt off his back. The person who makes strangers feel welcome within minutes of meeting him.
Outside of work, Brian spent years traveling the country playing competitive paintball, building friendships and memories everywhere he went. And through everything, one constant companion has been his beloved dog, Potato — his best friend and loyal sidekick.
Now it’s our turn to show up for Brian the way he has always shown up for others.

• Everyday living expenses while he heals and regains mobility
