This is Seamus Fitzpatrick, Fitz to friends and family. Fitz is a miracle. By no means should he still be alive. He should not have survived everything he has. Fitz still needs help. Please consider donating to his $8,000 vet bill. Our paypal is the bio. We really need the help.
Fitz came to me when he was around 3-4 months old, as a partially paralyzed kitten. He’d somehow been surviving on the streets until then. We immediately started laser and physical therapy and something amazing happened- he started to walk. At first unsteady, knuckling on his toes, but with some taping and more physical therapy, he began walking better! The way he’s supposed to! As if he never walked any other way!
But we noticed something during that time, he wasn’t urinating like he should be. It seemed like he was peeing and pooping out of his anus. With some imaging and exploratory surgery we were able to figure out why- his urethra was connected to his colon. This was something that had to be fixed. It was the perfect breeding ground for infection, sepsis, and eventually would cause his death. He would suffer. So we began researching. Most of what we found was based in human medicine, but a plan was formed. Surgery that really hadn’t been performed before.
He was under for a long time, but when he woke up we had rerouted his urethra and repaired his colon.
But then there were complications after, three surgeries to correct those. That caused a staph infection. His skin sloughed off and he lost fur.
Through it all Fitz has remained sweet, loving, and always wanting attention. He’s playful and silly and a wonderful little kitten. Now he’s truly on the mend. His skin is granulating and healing. But he needs one more surgery.
And that devastating vet bill remains. We need help. Anything helps. Even sharing this helps.
