My sister, Cody Peters, in Springfield, MO, suffered a catastrophic medical event Fri, 14Mar. She is now fully dependent upon medical assistance for an indeterminate amount of time, possibly permanently. Our parents, Penny & Corky Swearingen, are working with hospital Social Workers to ID any resources to help. In the meantime they are closing her apartment to help pay for medical costs & get her moved into an assisted living situation. Corky Swearingen is listing her personal items on Facebook Marketplace and coordinating with a moving company for anything left. We don't know the extent of the financial need, just that it continues to grow. If you live in the area, please check out Corky's listings to see if you may want to buy anything. Any purchases or donations would help and be greatly appreciated, no matter how small. She is so young to be suffering like this and is going to require a lot of help. Please share this with anyone that may know Cody from the WINGS program at the Phelps Center for Gifted Education, Weaver Elementary, Pipkin (Junior High / Middle School) class of 2000, or Central High School class of 1999 (after skipping a grade); in school she participated in Tennis, Orchestra, & Marching Band. She has also always been active bowling at Enterprise Park & Sunshine Lanes & scorekeeping for the Greater Ozarks Open Bowling Tournament. Cody has worked all of her adult life to care for others with needs similar to her own now. She has worked at Christian Healthcare & Primrose Healthcare, & has worked at CoxHealth, both North & South.
