For many years, my mom has never truly had a place to call her own. No matter how difficult life became, she always worked hard—often working multiple jobs—to support herself and keep moving forward.
When her health declined, she was forced to stop working and eventually began receiving disability benefits. Even then, she never gave up on her dream of having a simple place to call home.
After years of saving and using a lump-sum payment, she was finally able to build a small cabin in the woods. It’s modest, peaceful, and represents something she’s never really had before: a place that is truly hers. Her goal has always been to live simply and as self-sufficiently as possible.
The biggest obstacle she now faces is getting electricity installed. The cost of bringing power to her cabin is more than she can afford on a fixed disability income.
I’m creating this fundraiser because I want to help my mom complete the home she’s worked so hard to build. Every donation, no matter the amount, will go directly toward the cost of installing electrical service so she can safely and comfortably live in her cabin.
