Hi, my name is Alexandria, and at just 21 years old, I am facing the possibility of losing several of my teeth because of the long-term effects of the radiation treatment I received while fighting cancer as a child.
When I was six years old, I was diagnosed with rhabdomyosarcoma. My treatment included chemotherapy and radiation. Those treatments helped save my life, and I am incredibly grateful to be here today. However, radiation at such a young age can have lifelong effects on a developing body, and for me, one of those effects has been severe damage to the development and health of my teeth.
As I've gotten older, the damage has become increasingly apparent. I am now at a point where several of my teeth are failing, and I need extensive dental treatment to preserve and restore my smile.
I have been referred to a dentist who specializes in the type of care I need. The initial consultation alone is $675. I do not yet know exactly how much the full treatment plan will cost. Based on what I currently know about the work I need, I am preparing for treatment costs that could reach tens of thousands of dollars.
I have set my fundraising goal at $25,000 to help cover my consultation and the extensive treatment that may follow.
I'm asking for help because this is simply more than I can afford on my own. Every donation, no matter the amount, will go toward my dental care and help me get closer to completing the treatment I need.
