The Saint Patrick’s Warriors Annual Drive  
WARM WINTER KITS FOR THOSE IN NEED

The Warriors are a youth-lead service group from the Basilica of Old Saint Patrick's in New York City. In the dead of winter, the need for coats and other warm clothing increases, especially among those experiencing homelessness. With your help, we would like to help these people. The pandemic has resulted in financial hardship for an increasing number of families, so your support is more important now than ever. 

We will be assembling winter kits and sending them to our friends at the Bowery Mission. They provide food and shelter to those seeking assistance, as well as services that help those experiencing homelessness attain and retain a sustainable lifestyle. 

UPDATE: So far we have raised the funds and provided 30 winter kits to The Bowery Mission. Help us to provide 30 more!

Here are some key facts about homelessness in New York City today (according to the Bowery Mission):

• About one in 106 New Yorkers, or nearly 80,000 people, is experiencing homelessness.
• For every person sleeping in a public place (there are about 4,000 currently), twenty are in a shelter.
• Homelessness is at its highest ever in New York City
• 60% of New Yorkers don’t have enough savings to pay for three months of food and rent. 
• 20% of New Yorkers live below the poverty line. *

These statistics are startling to us, and we would like to do what we can to help those experiencing homelessness this winter season. The kits we are assembling for the Bowery Mission include hats, gloves, blankets, coats, and packs of socks. Every recipient will be given one of each. 

We won’t pause our service even in the midst of a pandemic because the current global situation has made our work all the more important. Our current goal is to raise another $1000, which would pay for 30 of our neighbors to receive a kit. Our goal is small, but with your help, we can give kits to even more people.
